Houston Archeological Society Volunteer Screening Project
• Involvement
On July 1st, 2016, the Houston Archeological Society (HAS) and the Texas Department of Transportation executed a donation agreement allowing HAS members to assist with the archeological data recovery excavations at Frost Town. HAS members have volunteered to screen the sediments that archeologists are mechanically scraping off excavation areas in their attempt to reach Frost Town occupation surfaces. This volunteer effort is being supervised by TxDOT archeologist, Dr. Jason W. Barrett, who supervised a similar year-long effort with the HAS in association with the Dimond Knoll site located along the Grand Parkway. |

• Goals
Through this screening project, the Houston Archeological Society hopes to generate additional period-specific data, helping archeologists better understand the character and development of historic Frost Town. This effort is just one more example of the many great contributions made by the HAS to explore the rich history of Houston and to preserve Texas heritage. |
• Work Schedule
HAS members meet at the Frost Town excavation site on most Friday and Saturday mornings at 7am, working until 11am (the cool part of the day). Please note that you must be an HAS member in order to participate. Please check our membership page for details on how to join. |
